What To Look For On-Site

Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) is delivered via an optical fibre cable directly to an nbn Fibre Network Termination Device (NTD) installed within your premises. To set up your connection, locate the NTD and identify the UNI-D port specified in your service completion advice for your internet connection. Ensure the NTD is securely mounted, powered on, and the designated UNI-D port is accessible.

If you're unable to find your NTD please contact our support team to arrange a replacement.

What You'll Need:

    • NBN Connection Box (NCD)

    • Modem/Router

    • Ethernet Cable (RJ45)

  1. Connection:

    • Connect the Ethernet cable (8 gold pins) from the "UNI-D" port on your NBN Connection Box to the "WAN" or "Internet" port on your modem/router. We will tell you which port in your activation email but normally "UNI-D1"

    • Power on both devices.

  2. Connect to Your Modem/Router:

    • Connect a computer to your modem/router using an Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi.

  3. Access the Modem/Router's Settings:

    • Open a web browser (like Chrome or Safari) and type the modem/router's IP address into the address bar. This is often 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1. You can find this information in your modem/router's manual or on a sticker on the device.

    • You will be asked for a username and password. These are also found in the manual or on a sticker.

  4. Find the WAN or Internet Settings:

    • Look for a section called "WAN," "Internet," or "Connection."

  5. Change the Connection Type:

    • If the connection type is set to PPPoE, change it to "Automatic IP", "DHCP", "Dynamic" or "IPoE."

    • Make sure there are no username or password fields populated. If the option exist, select "Username and password not required"

    • If required, VLAN: "0" or blank

    • DNS Server: Obtain Automatically

    • Internet Service Provider: "Not listed" or "Other"

  6. Save and Restart:

    • Save your changes and restart your modem/router.
